Aid and Attendance Benefits

There will be an Aid and Attendance Benefits Seminar presented by MSG Daniel Tooth, Director of Lancaster County Department of Veterans Affairs, at the Oak Leaf Manor on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 10-11am. Registration begins at 9:30am.

If you are a Wartime Veteran or the Surviving Spouse of a Veteran, and are in need of Personal Care Living, you may be entitled to a Significant Monthly Income from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Free Breakfast at Fred Groffs

To honor those who served this country and as a way of thanking all the local veterans who have given so much to protect our freedoms and way of life, Fred F. Groff, Inc is holding its First Annual Veterans Breakfast on Thursday November 10, 2011 at 7:30AM. The location is Fred F. Groff, Inc., 234 West Orange Street, Lancaster, PA, which is right across from the Fulton Elementary School.

This breakfast is FREE to any Veteran who served honorably. The breakfast is being prepared by fellow veteran and Master Chef Jason Fussaro, of Dude With the Food Catering. As another way of saying thank you Fred F. Groff, Inc will have a Veterans Benefit Specialist present to talk about what benefits you are entitled to as a veteran, the Veterans Assisted Living Program, and how to maximize your veterans benefits. Also, to preserve the history of our Veterans, Fred F. Groff, Inc has partnered with the Library Of Congress to bring to Lancaster County the Veterans History Project. The Veterans History Project collects and preserves the remembrances of American War Veterans. This service is a free gift to you by Fred F. Groff, Inc and more information will be available at the breakfast.

First Annual Veterans Breakfast

Free Barnstormers Tickets

Sign up for free tickets to the fourth annual Salute to Veterans day at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The event will be held May 26, with the pregame activities starting at 5:30 p.m. Bear expects to have about 1,100 tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each veteran is entitled to two tickets along with free parking and Barnstormer Bucks, which can be used to purchase food and drinks at the game. Tickets can be obtained by calling Bear’s office at 626-1776 or online at www.repbear.com.

The Barnstormers will play the York Revolution at 6:30 p.m.

The pregame show will be emceed by retired WGAL Channel 8 news anchor Dick Hoxworth and will feature the Valley Forge Military Academy Marching Band and Washington Memorial Pipe Band.

Also performing will be the Pennsylvania National Guard Color Guard, Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard, the Marine Corps League Lancaster Detachment and combined color guards from Lititz Springs VFW Post 1463, Garden Spot American Legion Post 56 from Lititz and the American Legion Post 34 from Manheim Township. The color guards will be under the command of Maj. Luis Mendoza.

Boy Scout troops from Lititz Borough and Warwick Township will unfurl a large American flag.
Special guest will be 11-year-old Jordan Brown, the South Lebanon Elementary School fifth-grader whose “Hang Tough” project has raised thousands of dollars to help erect a statue in St. Marie du Mont, France, honoring Lancaster native Maj. Richard Winters.

The first 400 veterans to sign up also will be treated to a free movie May 28 at Penn Cinema. The event will include two free tickets, a free continental breakfast at the theater at 7:30 a.m., followed at 8 a.m. by the film “Valkyrie,” starring Tom Cruise, which is about the failed attempt to kill Adolf Hitler launched buy German army officers in 1944.
